Reserve under rubbish watch

SITE MONITORED: Rubbish levels at Jim Currie Reserve are being monitored.

Kinleith Mill manager Ian Whyte said the reserve area was checked about fortnightly.

‘‘It was checked last week by staff and found to be in a reasonable state,’’ he said.

During the growing season (holiday season) the grounds care contractor regularly cleaned up rubbish.

Mr Whyte said it was a challenge to maintain the reserve in an ideal state given that it was accessible to the public.

‘‘We have to deal with everything from dumped vehicles to household rubbish, and, in the past, homeless occupants.

‘‘We are very committed this week with our September outage but I will have staff check it again this week with an aim to getting it back into a tidy state,’’ he said.
