Juniors making big splash

Tokoroa Swimming Club took to the Hamilton pools for the Matamata Junior Short Course Meet recently.

Best result was Sean Millward, of Tokoroa, in the boys 12-year-old medley who placed second and improved by 3 per cent on his personal best.

The 50m butterfly ( seed time 43.43 seconds, final time 40.86s) improving 6 percent on Sean Millward’s personal best.

Sail Young improved his personal best by 10 per cent on the 100m freestyle, knocking, 10 seconds off his time (seed time 1.38.14s finals time 1.28.16s).

Isabella Teokotai was one second off her personal best for 100m freestyle girls 9 years.

Gypsy-Rose Koteka, in girls 10-year-old 100m freestyle, improved by 4 seconds.

Anahera, in girls 10-year-old 100m freestyle, took two seconds off her personal best. Anna Teokotai in girls 11-year-old 100m freestyle was 6 seconds better than her personal best.

Teri Bennett in girls 11-year old 100m freestyle improved by 1 second.

Sean Millward in boys 12-year-old 100m freestyle improved six seconds on his personal best and placed 4th out of 10 competitor­s just five seconds behind Tiaan Van Rooyen, from Te Awamutu, in first place.

Hinemaia Marriner, girls 9-year-old 50m backstroke, came fifth with a personal best and five seconds off first. Gypsy- Rose Koteka, 50m backstroke, was third over all out of 24 swimmers.

While other events were entered into these were the stand-out performanc­es for the swimming team. Head Coach Brian Telfar thanked parents, supporters and committee members for supporting youth swimming in Tokoroa South Waikato.
