Ju­niors mak­ing big splash

Toko­roa Swim­ming Club took to the Hamil­ton pools for the Mata­mata Ju­nior Short Course Meet re­cently.

Best re­sult was Sean Mill­ward, of Toko­roa, in the boys 12-year-old med­ley who placed sec­ond and im­proved by 3 per cent on his per­sonal best.

The 50m but­ter­fly ( seed time 43.43 sec­onds, fi­nal time 40.86s) im­prov­ing 6 per­cent on Sean Mill­ward’s per­sonal best.

Sail Young im­proved his per­sonal best by 10 per cent on the 100m freestyle, knock­ing, 10 sec­onds off his time (seed time 1.38.14s fi­nals time 1.28.16s).

Is­abella Teoko­tai was one sec­ond off her per­sonal best for 100m freestyle girls 9 years.

Gypsy-Rose Koteka, in girls 10-year-old 100m freestyle, im­proved by 4 sec­onds.

Ana­hera, in girls 10-year-old 100m freestyle, took two sec­onds off her per­sonal best. Anna Teoko­tai in girls 11-year-old 100m freestyle was 6 sec­onds bet­ter than her per­sonal best.

Teri Bennett in girls 11-year old 100m freestyle im­proved by 1 sec­ond.

Sean Mill­ward in boys 12-year-old 100m freestyle im­proved six sec­onds on his per­sonal best and placed 4th out of 10 com­peti­tors just five sec­onds be­hind Ti­aan Van Rooyen, from Te Awa­mutu, in first place.

Hine­maia Mar­riner, girls 9-year-old 50m back­stroke, came fifth with a per­sonal best and five sec­onds off first. Gypsy- Rose Koteka, 50m back­stroke, was third over all out of 24 swimmers.

While other events were en­tered into these were the stand-out per­for­mances for the swim­ming team. Head Coach Brian Tel­far thanked par­ents, sup­port­ers and com­mit­tee mem­bers for sup­port­ing youth swim­ming in Toko­roa South Waikato.
