Shan­ley shows how it’s done

The week­end’s golf at the Pu­taruru golf saw Kings­ley Shan­ley come out on top with the best points on the day, Shan­ley was best on the day and win­ner of di­vi­sion 2. The win­ner of di­vi­sion 1 was Ross Jel­lard, whose score was equalled by di­vi­sion 2 run­ner up Lance Hay. Ear­lier in the week (on Wed­nes­day) the spoon ti­tle was played for where David Hoyte with 36 points won the ti­tle for the day, he failed to take out the year’s over­all ti­tle, John Wood man­aged to play a shot up the 18th which meant that he was ahead of Hoyte and the sea­son’s other win­ners, who played off down the 18th to be­come the sea­son’s spoon win­ner.

Win­ners on the day were, in di­vi­sion 1, Ross Jel­lard with 45 points on a count­back from Butch Hamil­ton.

3rd was Do­minic Mor­ris 43, 4th Paul Sandi­lands 42, 5th War­wick White 42, 6th Simon Den­holm 42, 7th Chris Mckil­lop 41, 8th Mau­rice Tricker 40. Win­ners in di­vi­sion 2:Kings­ley Shan­ley with 48 points, run­ner-up Lance Hay with 45, 3rd John Lamb 43, 4th Barry Bur­well 43, 5th Tony Edgar 42, 6th Don Ri­ley 41, 6th An­drew Sadler 39, 7th David Hoyte 39.

The Ladies di­vi­sion win­ner was Margie Robin­son on 43, run­ner-up was Fern Tay­lor with 42.

Sum­ming up a suc­cess­ful day, the new Club Cap­tain Philip Kens­ing­ton thanked the play­ers, greens, kitchen and bar staff for great day’s golf.

He also in­vited mem­bers and vis­i­tors to at­tend next Satur­day where mem­bers will play the first round of the sum­mer cup, and all oth­ers to com­pete in the Pu­taruru Club’s last of­fi­cial tour­na­ment of the year
