Biking for good health

- By GILLY ALEXANDER

It has been great seeing people out and about on their bikes taking part in Bikewise Month.

Thank you to all the businesses who took part in ‘‘Ride to Work Week’’. There is still time to get out and about on your bike this week. Feel free to continue with the riding. It is a great way to get around and good for your health.

We have some cycling brochures available to anyone interested in biking. They include safety tips, club details and rides in the area and will be available at the information centres, council offices and our office from next week.

A reminder that our Introduction to Mountain Biking classes have had to be cancelled due to the closure of Cougar Park for riding. However, we are still doing a ride from Arapuni on Tuesday night – 6pm from Rhubarb Cafe.

Sport Review Forum

Sport Waikato is holding a forum for local sports leaders in Tokoroa. It is keen to get input from the community about what works well in sport, what stops it being better, what is changing, what response is being made to change and what needs to happen in the future.

Club and school personnel, coaches, administrators, sport co-ordinators, secondary school students, teachers, principals and players are all on the list of people invited. However, other people are welcome to attend and contribute.

The forum is designed to uncover the needs of sporting organisations and to prioritise what should be done to assist sport in the future.

The forum will be held at The South Waikato Sports and Event Centre on Wednesday February 27, from 5.30pm – 7pm.

If you would like to attend and give your views or if you have any further questions, contact: Gilly Alexander, 027 471 5968 or 886 9002, gillya@sportwaikato.org.nz

Look out for Taki and Lee taking photos of people energizing in the area. They will snap a photo of you and if it appears in next week’s paper you will win a prize from one of the many sponsors helping out. Thanks to last weeks sponsors – Z Tokoroa and SWPIC. We are still looking for last week’s person . . . Have a look. It maybe you.
