Club re­mem­bers mate

More than 100 peo­ple at­tended the bless­ing of tro­phies and the un­veil­ing of a plaque on the 15th tee be­fore the Jet Pi­hama Me­mo­rial Golf Tour­na­ment on Satur­day.

This was a great dis­play of re­spect for a pop­u­lar and hard­work­ing club mem­ber who passed away a year ago. Just un­der 100 play­ers par­tic­i­pated in the day’s event.

The re­sults are: Ladies Gross, Chantelle Cassidy, on 78. Net win­ner was Shirley Buck­ley, 65 on count back, while Lor­raine Gil­bert won the sta­ble­ford with 43 points. Gavin Cortesi, won the Di­vi­sion One men’s gross with 72, Brown Cortesi, the net with 64, and Neil Philpott col­lected the sta­ble­ford prize with 43 points.

The men’s Di­vi­sion Two gross was taken out by Teina Tekopua scor­ing an 80. Tangi Tarai won the net with 64, 43 points was again good enough to win the sta­ble­ford in this di­vi­sion too. Un­for­tu­nately, though, the win­ner’s name was not sup­plied.

The Jet Pi­hama Me­mo­rial Tro­phy for the over­all best net of the day, (men and women), was won by Teina Tekopua with 62.

The drawn win­ner of the Jet Pi­hama tro­phy for golfer with­out an of­fi­cial hand­i­cap was Leanne Ware.

Round Two of the Waikato Cham­pi­onship Pen­nants was played on Sun­day. Toko­roa’s Di­vi­sion Two Ream nar­rowly lost 5-4 to Hamil­ton ll at Hamil­ton, and the Di­vi­sion Team had a re­sound­ing 7 1⁄ to

2 1 1⁄ win over Raglan at Raglan.

2 The Hand­i­cap Pen­nants Team is in 5th place af­ter round one at Tau­maranui.
