Milestone a recipe for celebration
While Tirau Primary School will marks its 125th jubilee this year, another Tirau education facility will reach a milestone.
Details are still developing around Tirau Playcentre holding a series of celebrations throughout the year as it marks its 45th anniversary.
Tirau Playcentre president Melissa Stratton said: ‘‘We are thinking of celebrating in different ways during the whole 45th year.’’
‘‘I am aiming for a joint end of year Christmas party for the kids, parents, extended families and an invitation for all past members and families to attend the centre for celebrations. This day would be a Sunday lunch event [ mid- December],’’ Ms Stratton added.
Leading up to the function, fundraising efforts will include the creation and distribution of a fun recipe book.
‘‘As part of our fundraising we will be putting out a recipe book with a lot of input from promin- ent locals and Tirau businesses. A Tirau Town Recipe book that just happens to benefit a very worthy little organisation,’’ she told South Waikato News.
She hopes to cement the centre’s place in the community with strong local links.
‘‘My aim is to make our centre a well-known thriving part of the Tirau community. The past year we have worked at strengthening our links with Tirau Primary School, and tried to just get our name out there.’’
