Win­ter sport is fast ap­proach­ing with most sports hav­ing had musters and prac­tices ready for the 2014 sea­son. If you would like to place some­thing in the col­umn for your sport please let me know.

Co-or­di­na­tor – South Waikato District Echo Walk­ing Fes­ti­val

Fi­nal week for Echo Walks – the start of the fes­ti­val has been awe­some with plenty of people en­joy­ing the South Waikato walks. We still have some be­fore the fin­ish on Sun­day – at Cougar Park. Bring the fam­ily along to have a walk around and fa­mil­iarise your­selves with the tracks that can be used for moun­tain bik­ing and walk­ing. It’s on April 2 start­ing at 5.15pm. Meet at the Toko­roa Cricket Club. Par­adise at Pakaraka – a walk around a work­ing sheep and beef farm at Oko­roire, Fri­day, April 4. Tim­ber­lands Pony Club North Is­land Teams Event

The Tim­ber­lands Pony Club are host­ing a teams event in Toko­roa on April 5 and 6. On Satur­day there will be dressage and show jump­ing at Me­mo­rial Sports Grounds; and on Sun­day the teams will be com­pet­ing at Chris & Mary Bai­ley’s property op­po­site Toko­roa Golf Club in­clud­ing a pa­rade on Sun­day at 2pm. Ev­ery­one is wel­come to come along and en­joy this event but please no dogs. Teams will be trav­el­ling from all around the North Is­land and Mandy Boyce is look­ing for bil­lets to host these teams which will in­clude six rid­ers and their ponies and a team man­ager and/ or par­ent. This is a great time to recog­nise all the won­der­ful vol­un­teers who have helped over the sum­mer sport sea­son. Ev­ery month mer­chan­dise is dis­trib­uted through­out the Waikato re­gion so keep those nom­i­na­tions com­ing in. From the coaches and of­fi­cials, to the uni­form wash­ers and ad­min­is­tra­tors, a Sport Maker is some­one who vol­un­teers their time and ef­fort for sport in the Waikato re­gion. Nom­i­nate the Sport Maker that makes a dif­fer­ence in your sport by click­ing on the link be­low. All nom­i­nees go in the draw monthly for the chance to re­ceive some awe­some sport­ing gear.
