Get that sporting event out there

Winter sport is fast approachin­g with most sports having had musters and practices ready for the 2014 season. If you would like to place something in the column for your sport please let me know.

Co-ordinator – South Waikato District Echo Walking Festival

Final week for Echo Walks – the start of the festival has been awesome with plenty of people enjoying the South Waikato walks. We still have some before the finish on Sunday – at Cougar Park. Bring the family along to have a walk around and familiaris­e yourselves with the tracks that can be used for mountain biking and walking. It’s on April 2 starting at 5.15pm. Meet at the Tokoroa Cricket Club. Paradise at Pakaraka – a walk around a working sheep and beef farm at Okoroire, Friday, April 4. Timberland­s Pony Club North Island Teams Event

The Timberland­s Pony Club are hosting a teams event in Tokoroa on April 5 and 6. On Saturday there will be dressage and show jumping at Memorial Sports Grounds; and on Sunday the teams will be competing at Chris & Mary Bailey’s property opposite Tokoroa Golf Club including a parade on Sunday at 2pm. Everyone is welcome to come along and enjoy this event but please no dogs. Teams will be travelling from all around the North Island and Mandy Boyce is looking for billets to host these teams which will include six riders and their ponies and a team manager and/ or parent. Sport Maker – Nominate a Sporting Volunteer

This is a great time to recognise all the wonderful volunteers who have helped over the summer sport season. Every month merchandis­e is distribute­d throughout the Waikato region so keep those nomination­s coming in. From the coaches and officials, to the uniform washers and administra­tors, a Sport Maker is someone who volunteers their time and effort for sport in the Waikato region.
