People to nom­i­nate and trails to tackle

Co-or­di­na­tor – South Waikato District Sport Maker – Nom­i­nate a Sport­ing Vol­un­teer

Con­grat­u­la­tions to all our sport­ing vol­un­teers who re­ceived prizes this month from Sport NZ and Lotto as part of the Sport Maker pro­gramme – Chris Waea, Lois Hosk­ing, Al­bert Cow­ley, Maria Te Kanawa, Cathy Haumaha and Nikki Tai.

This is a great pro­gramme ini­ti­ated by Sport Waikato to re­ward vol­un­teers, or Sport Mak­ers, in our com­mu­nity.

This is an op­por­tu­nity for you to nom­i­nate vol­un­teers now; from the coaches and of­fi­cials, to the uni­form wash­ers and ad­min­is­tra­tors, a Sport Maker is some­one who vol­un­teers their time and ef­fort for sport in the Waikato re­gion. Nom­i­nate the Sport Maker that makes a dif­fer­ence in your sport by click­ing on the link be­low.

All nom­i­nees go in the monthly draw for the chance to re­ceive some awe­some sport­ing gear. Take the time to nom­i­nate and re­ward a lo­cal Sport Maker who helps you and your sport. sport­waikato.org.nz/ 2014 Trail Tril­ogy Walk one is this weekend – Sport Waikato and the Hau­raki Rail Trail are hav­ing some fun run/ walks over three months, start­ing with Tiro­hia to Te Aroha (14km), on Sun­day Au­gust 20 from Waihi to Paeroa (21.6km) and fi­nally Paeroa to Thames on Septem­ber 21.

These walks can be com­pleted in­di­vid­u­ally or in teams.

New En­er­gizer – Wel­come Olivia Shel­drake

We were sad to lose Lee Fitz­patrick from our En­er­gizer team and wish her well with her new farm­ing ca­reer, but are pleased to wel­come Olivia Shel­drake.

Shel­drake is a pri­mary school teacher from Toko­roa. Most re­cently she has been teach­ing at Lich­field School – which will now be­come one of her En­er­gize schools.

She will be work­ing with the Pu­taruru clus­ter of schools and in South Waipa. Ac­tive and Well work­shop dates Heather Price and Mandy McCabe will be run­ning la­bel read­ing work­shops over the next cou­ple of weeks and ev­ery­one is wel­come to at­tend. Tues­day July 22 for about an hour. Con­tact Heather or Mandy on 886 9002. Tri­tons win again Con­grat­u­la­tions to the 2014 Tri­tons Gwynne Shield Team on bring­ing the shield back to South Waikato again this year. This is an awe­some achieve­ment and one we can all be very proud of.
