Cham­pi­onships a win­ner

Hun­dreds flocked to the Toko­roa net­ball courts on Satur­day for the start of the Bill Gray Memo­rial Net­ball Cham­pi­onships.

There were pre­dictable wins in the Pre­mier Divi­sion with top of the ta­ble United Force de­feat­ing For­est View High School 63-19.

Mean­while, Ea­gles only just scraped through against Toko­roa Neme­sis 48-41.

Neme­sis had a good start win­ning the first quar­ter 12-10. But by half­time the Ea­gles showed their class and took the lead 27-21.

That surge proved to be vi­tal for the ex­pe­ri­enced side be­cause they only in­creased their lead by one point by full­time.

In the other pre­miere match THS A were ahead for the en­tire game against Pan­thers, tak­ing the game 51-42.

In the A Grade Pu­taruru Col­lege Ju­nior A, Pu­taruru Col­lege A, Forest­land Fal­cons and Man­gakino Hawkettes re­main un­beaten.

This year there will be a tro­phy for dif­fer­ence be­tween goals scored for and goals scored against. In the A Re­serve Grade, Toko­roa High School B, Toko­roa In­ter­me­di­ate year 8 Magic and Toko­roa High School Ju­nior B are un­beaten.

The B Grade has For­est View High School B, Toko­roa In­ter­me­di­ate year 8 Mys­tics and Toko­roa In­ter­me­di­ate year 8 Pulse un­beaten.

The B Re­serve Grade has Tainui Magic, Toko­roa In­ter­me­di­ate year 7 Pearls and Toko­roa In­ter­me­di­ate year 7 Emer­alds are un­beaten.
