Championsh­ips a winner

Hundreds flocked to the Tokoroa netball courts on Saturday for the start of the Bill Gray Memorial Netball Championsh­ips.

There were predictabl­e wins in the Premier Division with top of the table United Force defeating Forest View High School 63-19.

Meanwhile, Eagles only just scraped through against Tokoroa Nemesis 48-41.

Nemesis had a good start winning the first quarter 12-10. But by halftime the Eagles showed their class and took the lead 27-21.

That surge proved to be vital for the experience­d side because they only increased their lead by one point by fulltime.

In the other premiere match THS A were ahead for the entire game against Panthers, taking the game 51-42.

In the A Grade Putaruru College Junior A, Putaruru College A, Forestland Falcons and Mangakino Hawkettes remain unbeaten.

This year there will be a trophy for difference between goals scored for and goals scored against. In the A Reserve Grade, Tokoroa High School B, Tokoroa Intermedia­te year 8 Magic and Tokoroa High School Junior B are unbeaten.

The B Grade has Forest View High School B, Tokoroa Intermedia­te year 8 Mystics and Tokoroa Intermedia­te year 8 Pulse unbeaten.

The B Reserve Grade has Tainui Magic, Tokoroa Intermedia­te year 7 Pearls and Tokoroa Intermedia­te year 7 Emeralds are unbeaten.
