Stars take the A Grade

-

Tainui Stars are the 2014 A Grade primary netball champions.

All games were completed last Saturday with the talented Stars side coming out with five wins.

Cargill Champs took out the B grade with five wins and the C grade champions are Strathmore Magic with a whopping seven wins. David Henry Firebirds won the D Grade, also securing seven wins.

Saturday’s prizegiving had two intermediate school umpires awarded a special commendation for controlling primary A grade games during the season. Renee Hurliman and Jess King gained their Netball NZ Theory Assessments earlier in the year and will be aiming for the Junior Umpires Practical badge next year.

With one round of games to be completed for the all grades in the Bill Gray Netball Championships, some of the grades will be very close until the final whistle.

The Premier Grade is running with predictable results. Eagles, United Force and Tokoroa High School remain unbeaten. All three teams have been able to bring in some younger players this year, but it appears United have an edge, gaining some very high scores each week. United will face off against Tokoroa High School tonight and tackle Eagles this Saturday.

Although Panthers have gained only one win against Nemesis, this is their first time at Premier level and they have deserved their place in the premier grade.

The A grade has nine teams aiming for the top space, but it is Putaruru College Junior A and Mangakino Hawkettes that remain unbeaten.

Putaruru College Junior A’s last game is against the seniors at their school Putaruru College A. Mangakino Hawkettes’ last game is against Exusia.
