Plan rejected
As an NZEI member, I recently voted to reject the Government’s proposed $359 million spend on their Investing in Educational Success programme.
This is the Government’s plan to pay good principals and teachers more money to take them out of their current school for up to two days a week, in order to help other schools.
The Government would be wise to listen to the 93 per cent of primary school teachers who voted in the same manner as I did. We feel the majority of us are good teachers; what we need is a Government who will listen to us and work with us, regarding our professional practice. Jamie Strange Hamilton (Abridged)
