Aca­demic achiev­ers re­turn home vic­to­ri­ous

Stu­dents from For­est View High School put their aca­demic wits and skills to the test and re­turned home vic­to­ri­ous from a in­ter-school chal­lenge.

The an­nual Aca­demic Ex­change took place at Ro­torua Lakes High School re­cently with both teams bat­tling it out.

A team of 25 stu­dents from year 9 to 13 trav­elled to Ro­torua to tackle the country’s big­gest is­sues.

The hot topic was based on food se­cu­rity with stu­dents find­ing so­lu­tions on how to make healthy food af­ford­able for New Zealan­ders.

Spit into three groups, For­est View stu­dents had two hours to re­search and or­gan­ise a pre­sen­ta­tion.

The teams cre­ativ­ity was ap­plauded when they pre­sented their find­ings as a tele­vised news story.

Two news an­chors and re­porters were used to ques­tion the re­search team.

Anisha Te Hiko said ev­ery­one did what they had to do ef­fec­tively even though they were ner­vous.

‘‘It took a lot of stress off hav­ing to trust each other.

‘‘We learnt how to im­ple­ment what we learnt in class.’’

Stu­dents from For­est View High School aca­demic squad are su­pe­rior when it comes to tack­ling real life is­sues.
