It’s times like these that the true meaning of a community shines through - especially in a place like Tokoroa.

There are a few families going through exceptionally tough times at the moment and it is comforting to know that they will get the support and guidance they need from friends and whanau back here in Tokoroa, even if they did move on to different towns.

In other news, it is good to see our pensioner housing unit still on track to being built.

However it is a huge shame that our young Waiariki students will not be able to participate or contribute to its construction.

It was a really neat concept, and one that perhaps should be mooted more often, to get our young people involved in the development of our town. Pehaps it would increase their connection and sense of responsibility to it, if they knew they had played a role in its establishment.
