Update enrolment details to vote

If you want to have a say on who represents the South Waikato District in the upcoming local body elections time’s running out to update your enrolment details.

There are currently 15051 people registered to vote in the South Waikato District and 562 people have updated their enrolment details since the start of the Electoral Commission’s enrolment update campaign.

The Electoral Commission mailed enrolment update packs to the 3.1 million people on the

New Zealand electoral roll at the end of June, to make sure all those who are eligible are correctly enrolled to vote .

In the South Waikato however, 218 enrolment forms have bounced back due to address details being out of date.

Due to local elections being held via postal vote people must enrol or update their details by August 12 to receive their voting papers in the mail.

Those enrolling after August 12 will need to cast a special vote, and will need to contact their local council for voting papers.

To get an enrolment form visit elections.org.nz, free text your name and address to 3676, call 0800 36 76 56, or go into any Postshop.
