Kiwi magic show coming

- LUKE KIRKEBY

He may only be 21 but that hasn’t stopped New Zealand magician Mike Lindsay from creating one of the country’s biggest magic shows.

For the first time ever Auckland based Lindsay is bringing his 90 minute long magic show It’s Showtime to The Plaza in Putaruru on April 8 at 7pm.

It will be the second time that the show, which has been created over two years, has been seen south of Pukekohe as Lindsay makes his way down the country visiting several small towns.

He said locals are in for a treat.

‘‘I have some unique routines in the show that I’ve developed myself that nobody else performs that relate to a real Kiwi style of magic,’’ he said.

‘‘Generally in New Zealand people only get to witness magic shows on a smaller scale at kids parties, however this is more Vegas style with a lot of larger illusions in the mix you won’t see anywhere else in New Zealand.’’

Lindsay said he was excited to be bringing his show to small towns like Putaruru.

‘‘I love meeting people in the foyer after the show in smaller towns like this because they’re always so appreciative,’’ he said.

‘‘It’s that type of support and feedback that keeps me coming to towns like Putaruru. I’m also keen to check out the area when I’m down, I’ve only ever passed through the area but never visited.’’

He said he feels lucky to have been able to forge a career out of magic at such a young age.

Tickets for the family friendly event can be purchased from Itsshowtime.co.nz.
