I must admit I watched the Womens’ Rugby World Cup final without even knowing we had one of our own in a starring role.

The Black Ferns were up against a fully professional English side but that made little difference at the business end of the game. They just ploughed on through to dominate yet another World Cup.

A hat-trick of tries from Tokoroa’s Toka Natua were absolutely the highlight for me and the very reason why it is worthwhile tuning in to these games. Sometimes you just witness pure sporting gold.

This region has produced its fair share of top athletes and Natua is right up there with the very best of them.

Sport is a metaphor for life in general, which I guess is why people follow it. When our own people succeed it somehow makes everything seem more achievable.

So thanks for the show Natua and congratulations on the performance.
