Christmas Night Market

- LUKE KIRKEBY

With 40 days until Christmas finding those special gifts will be starting to play on everyone’s minds.

Luckily the Putaruru Toy Library is coming to the rescue with its fourth annual Christmas Night Market on Friday from 5pm until 8pm at the Putaruru Hotel.

The library’s Judith Bennett said there will be a big variety on offer at this year’s market.

‘‘We have got approximately 30 stalls and the Putaruru Hotel has kindly sponsored the market and given us space in and outside the hotel for free,’’ she said.

‘‘There will be homemade baking, crafts, herbal products, Tupperware, soaps, popcorn, hot chips, toys and a range of other things on offer.’’

‘‘The Putaruru Toy Library will also be doing a sausage sizzle, a bouncy castle for toddlers, and we have raffles and our new Kiddikutter fundraiser which are knives that are safe for children to use. There will be something for everyone,’’ she said.

Bennett said the market in the last two years has been extremely popular.

‘‘The last two years we have had torrential rain but even with the rain we’ve had hundreds of people turn up,’’ she said.

She said it was a great opportunity to shop locally for Christmas.

‘‘Come along because there will be lots to buy and Christmas is nearly here. It’s a chance to get into the Christmas atmosphere,’’ she said.

She said it wasn’t too late to book a stall spot.
