Rest home workers earn qualifications

- By ILONA HANNE

Members of staff at both of Agecare Central’s rest homes in Stratford have earned qualifications in health and wellbeing.

On Monday, June 11, nine of the 12 staff members from Maryann and Marire who have taken the opportunity to undergo extra study and training were formally presented with their certificates and given a small gift in recognition of their efforts.

Not all of the 12 were able to attend the certificate presentation.

Nurse manager Michelle Parrett says staff who chose to work towards the qualifications were supported by Agecare Central Ltd so they could attend educational sessions.

“We also encouraged them to ask any staff if they needed help or had any questions.”

Michelle says they are delighted staff chose to undertake the extra study to gain the qualifications, saying it wasn’t a requirement from Agecare Central.

“This was their choice to do the extra study, and we are delighted we were able to support them in gaining their qualifications.”
