A magical journey to Narnia on stage

- By BEN THOMAS of Ha¯ wera Repertory

Ha¯ wera Repertory’s latest production, The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe opens this Friday, June 22 — and you won’t believe what we have behind the curtain for you!

The family favourite written by C.S.Lewis and adapted by Glyn Robbins, is directed by Samantha Turner.

If you have read the book why not come along and let us bring your memories to life, or if you haven’t read the book let us do the work for you and transport you to the winter land of Narnia.

Once again the Ha¯ wera Repertory family of cast, set builders, painters, sound, lighting and back stage crew have been extremely busy working to bring you a top-rate theatre experience in Ha¯ wera. The play promises to be a great show and will suit a firsttime theatre goer just as much as a well-seasoned theatre buff.

The season has nine performances including three matinees to cater for the many children who will enjoy the show.

In true Samantha Turner style the show will have some never seen before set and props. This includes Aslan the lion, as previously reported upon in the Stratford Press. Aslan has been hand-built by local engineer Bobby Logan and it is worth booking tickets to the show purely to see Bobby’s creation come to life.

The set for this show is stunning and with the help of the well-rehearsed cast we promise to take you on a magical journey full of heroes, villains and any amount of quirky woodland characters.

Tickets can be purchased from TicketDirect online or from the Ha¯ wera I-Site. The show will be playing on the Ha¯ wera Memorial Theatre stage. So treat yourself and the family and friends to a great two hours of live entertainment. You’ll be glad you did!
