Midhirst Tennis Club: By Marianne Drummond The Midhirst Tennis Club accepted the resignation of its long-serving president Liz O’Sullivan during its recent AGM.

Liz has served as president for over 20 years and was on the committee prior to that, and felt the time was right for some new blood. The club thanked Liz for her hard work in relocating the Midhirst Tennis Club to the Midhirst Domain as well as fundraising and organising the laying of new courts, and organising both primary and A grade teams among many other duties.

With husband Kevin, the O’Sullivan family has been the backbone of the club, with the entire family participating in competitive tennis for many years. Liz made hundreds of club sandwiches which all players enjoyed. Kevin and Liz, thank you so much for everything that you have done for our tennis club, and we look forward to Liz’s continued participation.

Congratulations to Sharon Beckett who has taken over the presidency. We know you will do a great job and give as much commitment as Liz.

The Midhirst Tennis Club will have three teams entered in the Taranaki Midweek women’s competition, and will recommence night tennis at the beginning of November.

■ People can participate in night tennis, either as an individual or as a team entry. Please ring Marianne on 06 7628757.
