■ Stratford Avon Bowling Club

The Men’s Syme Shield began on Saturday. Two games were played against Ha¯ wera with one won and one lost while it was

2-nil to Tower in the two games Stratford played against them.

On Sunday the Digger MacKay club tournament took place, winners were Paul Digby, June Phelan and Sue Harris.

This Saturday the Men’s Syme Shield continues for another round at home, at 1pm.

On Sunday the club mixed drawn championship triples start at 9.30am, with names required “on the board” by Saturday 4pm.

On Tuesday, October 16 the Women’s Egmont Shield will be played at home. Wednesday, october 17 is club day and October 20, 21 and 22 will be the Men’s and Women’s Taranaki Open Singles.

An open day will be held on October 20, for anyone interested to come along and have a go at bowls.

The Men’s Taranaki Open Fours entries close on Thursday, November 15.
