■ Stratford Avon Bowling Club News. The Stratford Avon Bowling Club held its monthly sponsored Optional Triples tournament last Thursday. The winner on the top green were Graham Baxter from Hawera Park, second was Jane Augustine from Tower and third were Kevin Mischefski, Keith Zehnder and Marlene Mischefski. On the bottom green, the winner was Frank Pollock from Hawera Park, second were Morrie Stieller, Ross Hiles-Smith and Malcolm Hoskin and third was Bob Buhler from Tower. Thanks to the club’s sponsors and those who prepared food. Last weekend two of the club’s teams played the Taranaki New Centre Fours at Hawera. Dennis McEwen’s team had one win out of three games and John Sextus’ team missed out but had some close games. This Saturday, the Men’s Championship Premier Fours Competition starts. Two games will be played, starting at 9.30am. The women start their Championship Fours at 9.30am. On Sunday, the men start three rounds of the Interclub Competition and on Sunday the Women’s Interclub Competition starts at 9am. Can some helpers please get to the club early to get the greens ready.
