TONIGHT Mastermind 7.45pm, TV One After 12 weeks, 32 contestants have been whittled down to the final four – Julyan Lawry, William Barnes, Jackie Owens and David Barnes. Their specialist subjects include the life and works of Stephen Fry, American History in the 1960s, The Chronicles of Narnia and British Antarctic Expeditions to the Ross Sea Region. Short Term 12 8.30pm, Maori TV Fleshed out from writer-director Destin Cretton’s own 2008 short of the same name, this 2013 drama is a rare Generation Y title that aims to treat its target audience as adults. Brie Larson shines as the calming counsellor, barely older than most of her troubled charges. ‘‘Well written, terrifically acted and compelling,’’ wrote USA Today’s Claudia Puig. Michael McIntyre’s Big Show 9.30pm, TV3 Jam-packed with celebrity guests, musical performances and comrades from the comedy realm, the British comedian’s new family entertainment series promises to provide audiences with raucous laughter and a whole heap of fun. ‘‘In terms of entertainment per minute, it puts an average episode of Britain’s Got Talent to shame,’’ wrote The Mirror’s Ian Hyland. Anna Karenina 10.35pm, TV3 Keira Knightley. Doomed romance. Stunning cinematography. Fans of British director Joe Wright’s Oscarwinning 2007 drama Atonement will feel they are on familiar and solid ground with this audacious 2012 take on Leo Tolstoy’s classic 1870s tale. ‘‘Wright’s film is visually stimulating to be sure, but he never loses sight of the raw human emotions that make Anna Karenina a classic,’’ wrote Miami Herald’s Connie Ogle. WEDNESDAY The Odd Couple 9.30pm, Prime The second season of this remake of the hit 1970s comedy opens
