8pm, TV One Self-taught Kiwi cooking sensations Karen and Kasey Te Awa-Bird step outside their comfort zone for this 10-part series which sees them touring the globe, bringing their own unique style and fresh insight into different cultures and cuisines. At the end of each episode, the sisters put on a function of sorts for the ambassador of the respective country, using what they have learned from their time there. 8.30pm, TV2 Matt Damon and Jodie Foster star in the 2013 sci-fi tale about a man who aims to bring equality to a dystopian future where the rich live in a space station above the Earth. ‘‘With Elysium, [director Neill] Blomkamp has made good on the promise of District 9 and proven that working on a bigger canvas doesn’t mean compromising on smarts or aspirations to deliver tentpolesized stories with a thoughtful backbone,’’ wrote The Playlist‘ s Kevin Jagernauth. 9.20pm, TV One As season two of this popular British drama opens, 10 months have passed and the six couples who bonded in their local antenatal class are adjusting to life with their new babies. Business woman Roanna (Hermoine Norris) tries to hide her past from her young lover, but as the reality of her decisions start to become all too real for her, it’s only a matter of time before they implode. breadcrumbs of things to come. ‘‘Boasts one of the best pulpinspired scripts yet. It’s still full of corny dialogue ... but there’s a genuine elegance to the way it establishes Logan’s tortured condition and slowly brings the character around to recovering his heroic potential, methodically setting up and paying off ideas as it unfolds,’’ wrote Variety magazine’s Peter Debruge. 6.30pm, Maori TV Jodie Foster, Abigail Breslin and Gerard Butler star in this charming 2008 family adventure about a girl who discovers her favourite author isn’t what she expected. ‘‘Some nice scenery, an unexpectedly funny performance by Foster and an unflaggingly spunky Breslin make for above average family entertainment,’’ wrote TV Guide‘ s Ken Fox. 7pm, TV3 Robin Williams, Sally Field and Pierce Brosnan star in this charming 1993 comedy about a recently divorced actor who disguises himself as a female housekeeper to spend time with his children. ‘‘You will laugh till your ribs ache, ‘‘ wrote Washington Post‘ s Rita Kempley.
