Manson joy
Rowing A delighted Robbie Manson joined some famous names when he took out the premier single scull at the New Zealand Rowing Championships yesterday. Manson made the most of the absence of nine-time winner and defending champion Mahe Drysdale and the 2014 champion Hamish Bond to lift the prestigious Freyberg Cup. In excellent conditions on Lake Ruataniwha, Manson went ahead of his brother Karl at the 1000m mark and never looked back. The women’s premier single also had a new name engraved on the trophy with world lightweight champion Zoe McBride easily taking the title.
