Fraudster cleans out motel room
REUTERS disagrees with Osborne and Grimes.
From Jersey Shore to Keeping Up with the Kardashians, there are few reality shows she doesn’t watch. King has even considered pulling sickies at work to watch them.
Despite admitting to comparing her own lifestyle and wealth to the Kardashians’, King said it gave her something to aspire to, rather than resent.
She has recently begun to wean herself off reality TV. Having moved and joined the gym she finds there are not enough hours in the day.
But she said her mental wellbeing had not changed as a result. VICTIMS of a motel burglary are shocked by the ‘‘slick thief’’ who duped a motel worker with a story of an abduction.
Sonya and George Drysdale had all their possessions - down to the half-eaten food in the fridge - stolen from their Hamilton motel room this week.
What was most worrying for the Hawke’s Bay couple was the story the thief fed the young motel worker, who led him straight to the couple’s room.
The couple were booked into the Anglesea Motel and Conference Centre on Liverpool St while George was on a six-day business trip to Hamilton this week.
After the Drysdales went out, a man turned up at reception with a note and a key to their room, and a claim that a friend staying there had been abducted. She was ‘‘okay’’ and he was retrieving her belongings.
Most upsetting for Sonya was the loss of two journals documenting the lives of the couple’s two daughters, aged 14 and 19.
‘‘I started them when I carried our girls and write in them once year with the intent of handing them to the girls as 21st gifts. These cannot be replaced and I am so upset they may now be in someone’s trash,’’ Sonya said.
CCTV footage shows the man has distinctive tattoos on the back of his neck and up both forearms. He was wearing a black T-shirt with a smiley face and wore a bone carving necklace.
Motel owner Mark Nolan said staff were working to ascertain when one of the keys to the room disappeared.
The motel now plans to compensate the Drysdales for their loss of possessions. It had also replaced the locks and planned to upgrade to a higher resolution security camera, Nolan said.
