Sydney switch likely as Kieran hires JT’s agent

- DANNY WEIDLER

THE strongest indication Kieran Foran will be on the move from the Warriors is that he has engaged a Sydney-based player agent, Sam Ayoub, the man who has guided the career of Johnathan Thurston, the world’s best player.

Foran had been reluctant to use an agent since splitting with his long-time management group, SFX, but Ayoub has known Foran since he was a teenager and the pair spent time together at the Auckland Nines.

Ayoub has a good relationship with all clubs, but he knows that the biggest consideration for Foran is family.

If Foran is basing his next footballing decision on family, the best fit for him is the Bulldogs — the club his ex-partner Rebecca Pope wants him to join.

Pope has confided in friends that she is keen for her children’s father to play a far bigger role in their lives in the near future.

It is understood she wants Foran in Sydney and she likes the Bulldogs for one reason — the presence of Des Hasler.

Foran and Hasler have a very good relationship. Foran has respect for Hasler, and Hasler is known to still have a huge regard for Foran.

They have a father-son-style bond — one that has lasted through all of the dramas that Foran has faced.

Foran played his first NRL football under Hasler and the coach brings out the best in him.

Foran wants a smooth return to Sydney football and will consult his ex-partner at some point.

Foran will line up against his former club, the Parramatta Eels, at Mt Smart today.

The Kiwis playmaker showed glimpses of his old form last week and speculation about his future will be a constant this year if he continues to improve. The Sun-Herald
