At $2.39 per 535g can ($1.20 per serve) it was second for cost. Overall rating: First equal – nutritiona­lly all brands are very similar but this brand scored best for taste and was second for cost. This trusted brand has very similar nutrition to the other two. Similarly, it is low in additives but has the highest tomato content at 90 per cent (points here!). It is highest in fat and sugar and in the middle for sodium. Per 100g it has 215kJ, 2.2g fat, 3.7g sugar and 360mg sodium. It was second most popular with three of our 11 tasters voting it best, four second and four third. It was the most expensive at $3.89 per 535g can ($1.95 per serve). Overall rating: First equal – the most tomato (big tick) but second for taste and most expensive. This variety requires you to add an equal measure of water or milk, giving it more serves per can. It is similar to the others nutritiona­lly, with 85 per cent tomato and few additives. Per 100g it has 131kJ, 0.1g fat, 5.1g sugar and 340mg sodium. These figures would change if made up with milk rather than water. It was the least popular for taste – three tasters voting it best, three second and five third. It was the cheapest per serve – one 420g can costing $2.49 (73c per serve). Overall rating: Last (just) – good tomato content and cheapest but least popular.
