Tonight, 8.30pm Rialto Stanley Kubrick directed this Oscar-winning 1975 drama about an Irish rogue who wins the heart of a rich widow and assumes her dead husband’s aristocratic position in 18th-century England. ‘‘Stanley Kubrick’s magisterial Thackeray adaptation now stands as one of his greatest and most savagely ironic films, not to mention one of the few period pieces on celluloid so transporting that it seems to predate the invention of cameras,’’ wrote Village Voice’s Jim Ridley. Tuesday, 9.30pm SoHo Based on William Knoedelseder’s book of the same name, this new 10-part dramedy is set in the celebrated and infamous Los Angeles stand-up comedy scene of the 1970s. ‘‘While some viewers may be turned off by a dark show about comedians, most would be turned off by a boring show about comedians.
