Hunt’s UFC career in doubt: White

- MARVIN FRANCE

UFC president Dana White says Mark Hunt will not be seen inside the octagon again until he has been cleared by their medical team.

The Kiwi heavyweight was pulled from headlining the upcoming Fight Night in Sydney after admitting to slurring his words and memory loss in a first-person piece for Australian website, Players Voice.

A furious Hunt has since claimed that he has been cleared to fight by two Sydney brain specialists and blasted the UFC, accusing them of using medical concerns as an excuse to remove him due to his ongoing lawsuit against the organisation.

But White was adamant he was acting in both the UFC and Hunt’s best interests.

And if that means the 43-year-old has fought his last fight in the world’s premier MMA promotion, then so be it.

‘‘I don’t know,’’ White told the Daily Telegraph when asked if Hunt would fight again in the UFC.

‘‘Not if he isn’t fit to fight. If he’s not healthy enough to fight then the answer is: ‘No, he will never fight in the UFC again’.’’
