Powerball rolls on, and on, and on

Tickets purchased in Hamilton and Hokitika have each won a Lotto First Division prize of $500,000 following last night’s draw.

The winning tickets were sold at Grey Street Supermarke­t in Hamilton and Hokitika New World in Hokitika.

Powerball was not struck and has rolled over to Wednesday’s draw, where the jackpot will be $38 million.

Strike Four, which had a $300,000 prize, was won by a player in Ashburton. The winning Strike ticket was sold on MyLotto.

The winning numbers from Saturday’s 8pm draw are 31, 28, 36, 11, 20, 12, the bonus ball is 34 and Powerball is 2.

The biggest ever Powerball jackpot was a $44 million. It was won by Hibiscus Coast couple in November 2016.

Four months prior to that, three Lotto players from Dunedin, Te Awamutu and Hamilton split a $40 million jackpot.

Sales usually soar when the prize pool is bigger, but as there is more money to go around, the odds of winning Lotto first division and Powerball are still 1 in 38 million.
