Chisora calls out Parker for UK fight

-

Chisora was beaten via an 11thround knockout to Whyte in his last fight in December, but the 35-year-old veteran would still be a tough, tricky opponent for Parker, who won his previous bout in the same month via a third-round knockout against American Alexander Flores in Christchurch.

‘‘I’m hungry to get back in the ring again, I will be back with new armoury I’m ready for WAR,’’ Chisora told hayemaker.com, while announcing his new coach is Dave Coldwell, the former trainer of retired British boxer Tony Bellew.

‘‘I’m hearing Team Parker have been calling my name, that’s easy to do when you’re on the other side of the planet.

‘‘WAR Chisora is ready, I’m preparing for battle with whomever believes there are ready for WAR. If Team Parker want to take on this challenge.

Fighting Chisora is looking an increasingly lucrative proposition for Parker as he eyes a return to the booming British boxing scene. Whyte was expected to headline the April card in London against another heavyweight challenger, but Hearn said that probably wouldn’t happen because he believes there isn’t enough time to strike a deal with Breazeale.

A fight between Whyte and Breazeale would put the winner in the prime position to be the mandatory challenger for the winner of the Deontay Wilder versus Tyson Fury rematch, so Parker could take centre stage on Chisora’s home turf. Asked how progress was going on Parker v Chisora and if that could be an alternative, Hearn told IFL TV: ‘‘That is in play, very much in play. It could headline the O2, it could still be a monster card, but it’s not big enough as it’s own event to be a pay-per-view.’’

Chisora against Parker is marketable. Chisora is a local legend and Parker has made his name in the UK with three of his last four fights coming there, including his WBO world title loss to Joshua and a thrilling battle with Whyte that saw both fighters on the canvas before the final bell.

Beating the respected Chisora, who last year impressively knocked out Carlos Takam, would put Parker back into the title talk, but it’s a risky fight, with a loss causing major damage to his current rebuild.

Chisora’s professional record from 38 fights is 29 wins (21 via knockout) and nine losses, while Parker’s after 27 fights is 25 wins (19 via knockout) and two losses.
