This year’s Oscars could see streaming giant Netflix take out top gong for Best Film with Roma, but did you know that Netflix does podcasts too?

The recently launched Netflix podcast Strong Black Legends, pays homage to AfricanAmericans who have had a lasting effect on Hollywood films and the entertainment industry.

This interview-style podcast is presented by Tracy Clayton (of Buzzfeed’s Another Round podcast) and her interview style is relatable, high-energy and real. The first episode features actress Lynn Whitfield whose successful movies and TV shows The Josephine Baker Story, Eva’s Bayou and Netflix’s Nappily Ever After.

The podcast is weekly and future guests will include Ruth E Carter from Black Panther, John Witherspoon from Friday and Garrett Morris, the first black Saturday Night Live actor.

If your social media feed is flooded with friends asking for Netflix recommendations, point them towards the podcast You can’t make this up.

This Netflix companion podcast digs into the real stories behind its original true crime documentaries and TV shows. Each podcast covers one Netflix show and it’s the variety of presenters and guests that keeps this one on point. The episodes feature Netflix producers and film-makers who divulge behindthe-scenes secrets such as how they got access to stories, and what footage ended up on the cutting room floor.

The latest episode features Conversations with a Killer author, Stephen Michaud. Michaud spent six months interviewing serial killer Ted Bundy and this pod gives an eerie insight into the show that the producers say you shouldn’t watch alone.
