TAIKA Waititi will feature in a remake of classic fantasyadventure film The Princess Bride.

Juno’s Jason Reitman directed actors who recorded their parts at home, on phones, under United States lockdown conditions, according to Variety.

Waititi is among those taking on William Goldman’s classic script, along with celebrity couples Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner, Common and Tiffany Harris, Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka and Chris Pine and Annabelle Wallis. Jonas and Turner will gender-swap the main roles, with Jonas as Princess Buttercup and Turner as Westley.

Other cast members include Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Garner, Elijah Wood, Jon Hamm, Jack Black, Josh Gad and Zazie Beetz.

Fred Savage, now aged 43, will reprise his role of ‘‘The Grandson’’, while original director Rob Reiner will play his grandfather, played by Peter Falk, who died in 2011.

The remake will be released on mobile short-form content platform Quibi in 14 installments, with one posted every day for two weeks starting on Monday (US time).

It’s the next in a series of home-shot projects Taika Waititi has been involved in since the US went into lockdown.
