NZ finds two new Covid cases
THERE were two new Covid-19 cases reported yesterday, both in managed isolation, the
Health Ministry confirmed.
One of the new cases had visited a hospital’s emergency department via ambulance for a separate medical issue, before returning to managed isolation.
The woman in her 20s arrived in New Zealand from India on June 18. She has been staying at the Grand Millennium and tested negative for Covid-19 on June 23 as part of routine testing. On June 26, she was taken by ambulance to Auckland Hospital for a different medical issue for a short period and was tested for
Covid-19 while there. That test returned as positive yesterday.
Members of staff were aware that she had returned from overseas to a managed quarantine facility and appropriate protocols were followed, the ministry said.
The other case reported yesterday was a man in his 20s who arrived in New Zealand from India on June 22. He has also been staying at the Grand Millennium Hotel and tested positive as part of routine testing around day three of his stay.
There are now 16 active cases in New Zealand, all of them in managed isolation or quarantine facilities. There are no cases in the community, the ministry said.
