Getting married at first sight

-

trainer, and admits he sometimes hits the gym to avoid confronting his thoughts and feelings.

His ideal partner is fun and positive, with her own life. He doesn’t like women who gossip, disrespect their elders, or neglect self-care.

Samantha

You might recognise Samantha too, particularly if you’re one of her more than 130,000 followers on Instagram and TikTok.

Samantha, 26, posts about things like fashion and beauty. Her dog makes regular

appearances, but she usually blurs or conceals the face of her 5-year-old son, Kaelin, who she says her “life revolves around”.

Kaelin’s dad was Samantha’s only significant relationship so far, and she hasn’t had much luck with dating apps, so she’s hoping MAFS will be the place where she finds a partner who can be a positive role model for Kaelin.

James

Primary school teacher James came to Aotearoa from the UK to play cricket and fell in love with the country.

James, 31, reckons he is “100% ready to settle down”.

He really wants marriage and kids with someone he can create memories with and will be by his side through the good and the bad.

His model for a great relationship is his grandparents’ bond.

He meditates, goes to the gym, and is described by his friends as caring, kind-hearted and affectionate.

Madeleine

Since Madeleine’s 10-year marriage ended eight years ago she has been on a journey of discovery, and it has led her to Reiki. Madeleine is a trained practitioner of Reiki healing, and says her results “surprise even the most skeptical of clients”.

Madeleine, 37, has found dating in her 30s very different to her younger years and says she gave up on dating apps because “they usually want just one thing”.

So she’s turned to MAFS to find a man who’s fun and honest, with an amazing personality, values trust, love and loyalty and wants to build a family with her.

It’s a tall (Kara pun!) order - but could MAFS deliver Madeleine a Brett-and-Angelesque love story? We’ll find out soon.

MAFS NZ launches on Three and ThreeNow at 7pm on Sunday, May 26, and continues on Sunday-Tuesday evenings at 7pm.
