Fatal car crash

One person was killed in a car crash shortly before noon in Pukekohe, south of Auckland, yesterday. The Police Serious Crash unit is investigating the cause. Another person was in a critical condition in Waikato Hospital last night and two others were seriously injured after a vehicle rolled in Taupo yesterday afternoon. One person had to be cut from the wreckage. Meanwhile, a woman was critically injured after she was hit by a train north of Wellington at 11.15am yesterday, police said.
