100 million drawn to Ganges
Before the end of March more than 100 million pilgrims will have taken part in the Kumbh Mela Hindu religious gathering. As well as the opportunity for washing away sins in the river Ganges, the festival in Allahabad provides 600,000 jobs in the 6000-acre tent city and requires 18 pontoon bridges, 35,000 toilets, 120 ambulances and 30 new police stations.
