Heat when it’s needed
Rating the All Blacks

Grabbed his chance and enjoyed return to test footy in his 50th test. Scored a first-half try and showcased his booming boot at times. Solid elsewhere in core roles. Welcome back, Izzy. 8/10

Never puts a foot wrong. Seems to get more involved with a roaming licence on the wing. Scored a try from Beauden Barrett’s break and turned up everywhere else. A joy to watch, as usual.
13
Suffered a big collision in first carry of the game with Jamie Roberts, spitting his head and dinging his knee. Left the field, came back, made some good reads in defence, and wasn’t sighted after half time. Limited contribution.5
12
Solid without being spectacular. Made one horror kick in second half but carried and tidied up well on occasions.
11
Handled a challenging night reasonably well. Carried strongly, with some big bump-offs, and went looking for work from the left wing, scoring one try. Loses marks for one kick out on the full – and a couple of penalties.7
10
Didn’t have much of a chance to fire a shot after being stretchered from the field after a crushing his neck in a tackle in the 32nd minute. Here’s hoping it’s nothing serious.
9 5
Workaholic performance once again. Cleaned bodies in an improved breakdown effort but didn’t see much pill. Solid as per at the lineout.
4
Good return from the veteran. Part of a well functioning All Blacks lineout that pinched a couple of the Welsh throws.
Did his core roles at the scrum and lineout well and featured regularly on the edge to combine nicely with backs. Showed blistering pace on more than one occasion.

Held his own in the scrums but not as visible as usual in open field.
Reserves
Pulled off some thunderous hits that could be felt from the stands but conceded one scrum penalty. Still searching for first test try after 80 tests.
2 16 Nathan Harris
On for four minutes.
17 Wyatt Crockett (Moody)
Carried strongly when required and held up the scrum in the second half.
18 Charlie Faumuina (Franks)
Made an impact when he came on.
19 Patrick Tuipulotu (Whitelock)
The big man threw his weight around but will struggle to edge past the two starters.
20
Big impact from his 22 minutes once again. Scored a try backing up on the inside and his leg drive was to the fore.

Delivered well after replacing Smith and combined nicely with Barrett. Game changing performance. Missed a tackle on Davies and missed one goal kick but otherwise brilliant. Scored one solo try with a dummy and step that left two defenders for dead; laid on another for Ben Smith and controlled game elsewhere. Took his chance and deserves a start next week.
23 (Cane) 22 (Cruden) (Fekitoa)
Poor kick and missed tackle in Jonathan Davies’ try in a forgettable second-half period. Caught out defensively at times but carried well too. A work in progress.
