Trail leads to more luxury as Holden changes name
Following hot on the heels of the reveal of the facelifted Colorado ute, Holden has released details of the equally-facelifted ute-based Colorado7 SUV.
While the refreshed version of the SUV gains the new nose of the Colorado ute, as well as a number of the same mechanical and interior upgrades, the biggest news related to the Colorado 7 is its change of name to become the Holden Trailblazer.
Holden New Zealand managing director, Kristian Aquilina, said customer feedback and a change in vehicle design were important factors in the decision to rename the SUV Trailblazer.
‘‘The move to adopt the Trailblazer name emphasises the vehicle’s new direction into a more luxurious and premium space,’’ he said.
‘‘Like its Colorado sibling, the new 2017 Trailblazer will be introduced to New Zealand with significant improvements to driving comfort, whilst retaining its adventurous, go-anywhere spirit.’’
The Trailblazer will get a new, more luxurious and comfortable interior, which Holden says will reflect its ‘‘more premium positioning and move away from its more practical predecessor, Colorado 7’’.
As well as an all-new dash and instrument cluster design, the Trailblazer range introduces a brand-new, eight inch colour touch-screen, housing the latest Apple CarPlay and Android Auto phone projection technology.
Holden’s lead dynamics engineer, Rob Trubiani, said customer feedback was at the centre of the changes engineered into the Trailblazer programme.
‘‘Trailblazer will be used by customers in a variety of ways so we had to ensure its performance was versatile and capable but also refined,’’ said Trubiani.
The 2017 Holden Trailblazer will go on sale in New Zealand later this year.
