Atree-clad approach welcomes you onto this property at 283 Lower Weld Road, Oakura. Peace and tranquillity, mountain and sea views, orchard and lush green paddocks, surround a stunning and spacious home. The authentic Tudor home has an enchanting entrance with an eye-catching staircase and gleaming inked Rimu floors. The original design hails from 1600’s England; however recent renovations ensure the best of modern conveniences complement the richness of authentic features. Meticulous attention to detail is evident throughout. It has four generous bedrooms, a warm and inviting lounge, sleek designer kitchen and scullery, gorgeous bathrooms, and a second living/hobby room, and efficient heating throughout. With spacious outdoor living and expansive garaging/workshop, this home truly does have it all. More than anything current owners Terry and Lynley Knauf love the peace and quiet, the birdsong and being just up the road from the beach. The couple bought their dream lifestyle property three years ago, and it encapsulated all their fantasies rolled into one – a tree lined driveway, the grandeur, the established gardens, and the absolute quality of the home. Owning a manufacturing company in New Plymouth the couple found the lifestyle property to be an oasis in their busy lives. “We had so much fun putting our stamp on the property,” Terry says. “We built two new en-suites and a brand new traditional kitchen with granite tops in the bathrooms and kitchen.” “But what I love most of all are the two stone fireplaces, we have one in the master bedroom and it is amazing on those cold nights.” When buying the property the couple upgraded almost everything from the kitchen to totally new plumbing, new central heating system walk-in wardrobes, new bathrooms, new carpet throughout, and outdoor entertaining. “The property is all ready for the new owner to enjoy,” Terry says. The home faces north east looking directly up the tree lined drive-way. Everything has been planted very symmetrically with twelve rose gardens evenly spaced on each side of the property. There is around 3.4 hectares of beautiful flat land perfect for all sorts of lifestyles. Currently the land is leased out to a local farmer, and future owners may choose to do this too. When you enter the front door the huge foyer and inked Rimu staircase are the main focus. The ornate staircase branches to the right and left as you reach the first landing. Lynley’s favourite part of the house is her new kitchen with a huge double oven and to-die-for scullery. Terry loves his study/den, right off the master bedroom, being twice the size of most offices and used as the hobby room as well. This home would be ideal for a family with kids who love horses or dirt-biking or have a passion for horticulture, as the property has shelter belts all around its boundary. “We have lived here for just over three years and have thoroughly enjoyed our time here,” Lynley says. “But now with our boys at university we don’t need a property of this size, but we do plan to stay in the Oakura area as we love the village feel.” “It is a large roomy property so would be wonderful for another family to fill and enjoy it.” To top it off the beach is just down the road. Oakura is a local village 5 kms away, with New Plymouth 20kms down the road.
