The Others Way Festival – a unique, locally run day of Auckland’s best alternative music, performing across multiple venues – returns on Friday, September 2. Taking inspiration from international music festivals CMJ and SXSW, attendees can map out their own trajectory for the event, hitting the streets to seek out Aotearoa’s most interesting, cutting-edge and established indie, electronica, hip-hop, and alt-pop, as curated by Flying Out. ‘‘This is the second year we’ve done The Others Way festival,’’ says organiser Ben Howe. ‘‘The first year we really envisioned as just a one-off event, but it was so successful and people kept asking, so we decided to do it again this year. Now it’s gotten a little out of control with over 40 acts across 10 different venues, all of which you can access via a single wristband.’’
