Dotcom Mansion mystery
More than two months after it was sold, property records have finally revealed the new owner of the Dotcom Mansion.
Sales data shows The Mahoenui Valley Trustee Ltd is now the legal owner of the property.
The directors of the trust are lawyers Matthew and Simon Makgill, and Lisa Ware, partners of a law firm named Lewis, which has offices in Hamilton and Cambridge.
The partners refused to comment on the purchase.
According to the firm’s website, Lewis specialises in commercial, property and farming and is a ‘‘progressive, modern law firm’’ serving the Waikato ‘‘and beyond’’.
Who will actually move into the property remains a mystery, as it’s unknown who the beneficiaries of the trust are.
The home was scene to a dramatic raid on the internet entrepreneur Kim Dotcom. It was sold in July for an undisclosed sum.
The property has a capital value of $22.55 million, but the actual price tag was expected to be in excess of $30m.
Dotcom leased the mansion from Chrisco multi-millionaire Richard Bradley until 2015.
