Foran offer had ‘Hayson clause’
South Sydney were one of the clubs that made discreet inquiries about Kieran Foran, although it’s the negotiations with one of the other suitors he rejected that are the most intriguing.
Foran ultimately signed a oneyear deal with the Warriors after agonising over the prospect of rejoining Des Hasler at Canterbury.
Foran this week told Fairfax Media that he will continue his controversial relationship with former brothel owner Eddie Hayson until the NRL insists otherwise. However, we can reveal the Bulldogs were so concerned about the association that they inserted a "Hayson clause" in their offer that forbade Foran and Hayson from socialising.
That was one of several issues Foran had to consider as he agonised over whether to join the Warriors or Canterbury. St George Illawarra and Souths, the latter through an intermediary, sounded out the former Parramatta skipper about his intentions. However, it was a gut-wrenching decision to say no to the Bulldogs. Aside from the fact the Warriors deal makes it harder for Foran to see his children, he has huge respect for Hasler. The Sun-Herald
