When Anne and John Harold discovered a bare section in a brand new subdivision, they knew instantly from the hillside position at 16B Link Drive the views were incomparable. They set about creating a stunning architecturally designed triple level home with four bedrooms, three bathrooms, triple car garage and service lift. Everything from the architecture to the landscaping is a result of their labour of love. “We wanted the home to blend into the hillside, make the most of the views - keeping within subdivision parameters, with a flat area for parking.” When entering the property you’ll see the front of the home has large glass stairwell. Luxurious interiors are framed by breathtaking views of the mountains and the sea, flowing effortlessly to an outdoor portico complete with outdoor fire. Multiple living areas lead effortlessly to the manicured lawns and feature gardens with each of the three ground floor bedrooms benefitting from private patio access. The ground floor accommodates the triple car garage and additional space for a gym or storage, while the first floor features three well-proportioned bedrooms (two with private patio access) The second floor features a contemporary kitchen of clever configuration with stone work surfaces, brushed stainless steel appliances with a spacious scullery and practical central island. Unique features include the angular shapes and copious amounts of glass showing off all vantage points, convenient lift service, triple car garage, generously sized bedrooms, kitchen full of brushed stainless steel appliances, flexible open-plan living areas, and a beautiful outdoor portico. Palatial wet areas with contemporary ceramic and fittings sit within meticulously maintained landscaped gardens. The Harolds say their favourite part of the house is the outside deck, accessible by internal stacker doors, open most days of the year. This provides easy access to the kitchen and lounge, perfect for entertaining friends and seamlessly shifting from inside to out. The couple once had 800 people through their home for an event called ‘Deck the Rooms for Christmas’ with proceeds going to Women’s Refuge. “We have arguably one of the best views in the subdivision enjoying spectacular scenery of sea, mountains and farmland from sunrise to sunset. The neighbourhood is lovely with a fantastic community spirit, and outdoor pursuits are close – walkways, cycleways and the New Plymouth Golf Course.” “As busy, semi-retired farmers we are always buzzing around, socialising in the community and enjoying the outdoors.” The couple has purchased a nearby section to create another project before their last stop at the rest home.
