Mall charge

Mall developer Kiwi Property and energy company Meridian Energy have joined forces for four new free electric-car charging stations at the LynnMall Shopping Centre in New Lynn, Auckland, as part of a nationwide roll-out that will see 12 other charging stations added to Kiwi Property’s shopping centres across the country. Future charging stations will be installed at The Plaza in Palmerston North, Northlands in Christchurch and Sylvia Park, where the companies say the existing two stations are in high demand. Jason Happy, national facilities manager for Kiwi Property, says: ‘‘Since we installed our first two car charging stations at Sylvia Park almost two years ago they’ve been used more than 2250 times.’’
