Thanks for Footing It with kids to school

When we and our readers kicked off the Foot It campaign at the start of this year, making it easier for family to walk, ride and scooter to school, it seemed an uphill climb.

The numbers of kids being driven had almost doubled to 55 per cent. Now the school year has wrapped up, and we’ve been enormously cheered by the real change that’s already happening.

With the support of Micro Scooters, we’ve been encouraging families to choose one day a week when they and their kids can foot it. And we’ve challenged mayors to lower speed limits.

If the councils don’t move fast enough to cut speed limits outside schools, we’ll take matters into their own hands.
