Adele-uge forecast for today

-

On one of her numerous US No.1 singles, Adele sings of wanting to Set Fire to the Rain.

And the British songstress may well get her chance this evening as heavy downpours are expected to drench her record-breaking third soldout performance at Auckland’s Mt Smart Stadium.

Up to 20mm of rain is expected to fall in Auckland in just two hours from 8pm, making wet weather gear a must for the roughly 50,000 punters heading to the concert.

At Adele’s second Mt Smart concert last night in Auckland, the superstar singer announced ‘we’re going to do something special’ after the opening song of ‘‘Hello’’, and brought a 30-strong kapa haka group on to the circular stage to perform.

Adele also had a crack at Auckland’s travel congestion, saying: ‘‘Your traffic’s pretty s*** isn’t it?’’

Across town at Western Springs, the rain will also fall on the Pasifika parade, the annual festival that welcomes 60,000 people across the weekend.

Western Springs park has been transformed into a Polynesian paradise for the weekend, with 11 villages representing the southern hemisphere’s cultural melting pot.

The showers are predicted to drench pretty much the entire country; with everywhere from Bluff to Kaitaia, Hokitika to Gisborne, in for some rain.

In Hamilton, the Black Caps’ hopes of pressing home their advantage against the South African cricket team in Hamilton will be stymied by afternoon showers.

And the final day of Nelson’s weeklong Marchfest beer jamboree is also likely to be affected by the rain.
