Kick Ass idea for women’s careers
Business mentor Kate Taylor, has launched a portable, personal coaching programme for women to help them achieve work goals.
The Auckland-based professional says her Killing it (A girl’s guide to Kicking Ass in her career and life) programme - delivered through a USB stick, paper workbook and a ninja motif - allows her to share lessons from her own corporate life in male-dominated business environments.
She said she wanted to create a product most women could carry around in their handbag and apply to everyday life.
‘‘Not every woman knows how to clearly define what it is they want, let alone how to go about getting it,’’ said Taylor.
‘‘So, the best place to start is at the very beginning. We want women to ask for what they want and examine what is holding them back, then we get to work honing their ninja warrior skills.
‘‘Most of the lessons in the programme are those I have learned the hard way. And because I preach that women must be brutally honest with themselves, I have included stories from my own background.’’
Taylor said the type of support women needed in corporate roles differed wildly from the help men required.
‘‘Females do feel a pressure to be ladylike, but they need to develop the
confidence to be who they truly are to be effective. Women tend to be more self-critical, and it’s about shutting up the inner voices of selfdoubt. You don’t necessarily have to be a natural extrovert to be influential.
‘‘Breaking down goals into achievable steps is also a very useful skill to learn to help advancement.’’
Taylor is making the programme available at thatabstractcat.co.,nz.
Anyone ordering from Australia or New Zealand will get an ANZAC discount by paying the same US$165 price in either the New Zealand or Australian dollar.
The programme is offering a $1000 personal development cash prize for one lucky buyer who purchases the programme before March 31.
