Water hopes

Assuming anyone in Government responds to the water-quality issues raised by Nadine Higgins (‘‘Up a toxic creek without a paddle’’, Focus, April 16) – and the media doesn’t get the blame for false news – let’s hope the response goes beyond the usual self-serving platitudes along the lines of the ‘‘we’re keeping an eye on this situation’’ drivel voters usually get.

Cultivating a caring personality but doing little is not going to do anything for species facing extinction.
